oil, canvas, 55 x 45 cm, signed on the reverse: 'rafał kowalski | "quo vadis" | 55 x 45 cm | No 1258.

In 1975-80 he studied painting at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdansk. He defended his diploma in the atelier of Prof. J . Zablocki. He is known primarily for his oil paintings, in which he often places figures in costumes and theatrical masks. Shrouded in an atmosphere of magic, the actors and jugglers in Kowalski's canvases are associated with the atmosphere of street theater. The artist is also involved in collecting. He just creates miniature theaters out of very old objects. Kowalski's paintings appeal to our imagination. He shows worlds full of beauty, which seem to exist forever thanks to the use of open perspective.
