KATARZYNA PIRIANKOV is an artist, curator and art producer. Since 2013, together with her husband
Ventzislav Piriankov, she is the curator and producer of the Staro Zhelezare street art festival in
Bulgaria. In 2023, they opened Bulgaria's first rural Street Art Museum in Staro Zhelezare.
It deals with fine art, rural and urban landscape, social engagement and
participatory art. Her interests focus strongly on issues of local
heritage and collective memory, on issues she calls "unrestricted
rural futurism" or "utopian futurism." Her greatest interests include
also organizing art events, curating, community art research and education,
which influence her artistic activities. Her artistic work combines sentimental motifs
with an overlay of realistic portraiture in the context of the contemporary global spirit with challenges and
cultural issues. Her paintings, inspired by the work of Dutch women painters dealing with
flowers address existential themes, touching on human instincts, drives
suppressed by culture and civilization, without which we cannot live. Since 1997, together with Ventzislav
Piriankov, owners of the Ventzi Art School in Poznan.
