oil on canvas, 30.00 x 30.00 cm
Born in 1953 in Warsaw, Poland. The artist graduated from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, where he received his diploma in Prof. Jacek Sienicki's studio in 1977. In 1977-89 he was an assistant and assistant professor at the Painting Department of his alma mater. He received the award for the best painting of the year in the competition of the monthly "Art & Business" in 2001. The simple, figurative style of his paintings refers to the art of the Italian Quattrocento, and any resemblance to Surrealism - which he himself repeatedly emphasizes - is accidental and superficial. An ironic observer of ongoing life and human relations, he is also the author of one of the most poetic styles of painting. He paints figures based on photographs he takes, for which he poses alone or with his wife Bogna. He sets them in an unreal landscape and has them play imaginary roles: dueling couples, dancers, musicians, jugglers. He often multiplies the figures, showing them in successive phases of movement.
