Nawal was born in Safi in 1981. After a very difficult childhood at a very young age, she had to support herself. At the age of 15, she found herself in Essaouira and through her creativity, she painted on ceramics and sold her works on the street. Essaouira is a small town and she was quickly noticed and appreciated. This encouraged her to explore other media such as wood and canvas with oil paint. Many hotels and galleries in Essaouira got her paintings. Black African migrants have always inspired her. She offers us colorful and narrative paintings in which our imagination is invited to invent our own stories. Today she lives in Sidi Ifni, and has opened a studio/gallery where she works and shows her works.
