Monika Balkowiec was born on May 11, 1973 in Lublin. She began her academic studies in 1993 at the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bruges under the direction of Professor Honore Clauwaert. In 1995 she moves to the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, continuing her studies in painting in the studio of Prof. Vladimir Lajming. He finishes his drawing education with honorable mention in the studio of doc.Wieslaw Zaremba-current professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ankara(Turkey). The year 1999 results in the defense of the diploma with a very good result, whose supervisor is Prof. Henryk Cześnik. Monika Balkowiec presented her paintings for the first time in 1994 at a solo exhibition at the Gallery "Vriemde Vogel" in Bruges. Her paintings could also be seen in New York at an exhibition in the reception lounge of the Polish Consulate-1995, and in the country at an exhibition in the foyer of the Baltic Opera and Philharmonic in Gdansk-1998.
