Mieszko (Mieczysław) JABŁOŃSKI
1892 Lublin - 1965 Cracow
Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (1912-1914, 1918-1920) in the studio of Jacek Malczewski. In the period 1915-1918 he made several trips visiting Ukraine and Russia. In 1925, he went on a private scholarship to France, and then on a government scholarship to Italy. He lived permanently in Cracow. He was a member of the Guild of Artists Jednoróg (1932-1934) representing a colorist orientation. He exhibited at TPSP in Krakow and Lviv. Since 1950, he served as an assistant professor at his alma mater, the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He exhibited mainly in Cracow, Warsaw and Lviv. The thematic range of Jablonski's paintings included landscapes, still lifes, nudes and genre scenes. The artist's works can be found in the collections of the National Museum in Warsaw and Poznań, the L. Wyczółkowski Museum in Bydgoszcz, and the District Museum in Lublin.
