Nikolai Dubrovitsky is a painter of Russian origin, settled in Poznan after the Bolshevik Revolution, born in 1898 in Tiflis. We do not know his exact biography, and address books only give his place of birth and his parents' details, as well as subsequent Poznań addresses until the outbreak of World War II. His postwar fate is still shrouded in mystery. The popularity of his usually small-format works is evidenced by the significant number of them present on the local antiquarian market. Of interest are those created far from Poznań, when the artist lived in Gdynia between 1928 and 1930 and captured in his works landscapes quite different from those of Wielkopolska.
