Michal Cygan (1989) - graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice in 2016 (Intaglio Studio under Prof. Jan Szmatloch, Painting Studio under Prof. K. Cieslik). He received a diploma with distinction in the Digital Graphics Studio under Prof. Adam Romaniuk. His paintings are in the collections of: Krupa Art Foundation, Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum in Bydgoszcz and BWA Bielska Gallery. He received an honorable mention at the Art Olympia biennial in Tokyo (2019). He is the winner of the Special Prize of the 44th Painting Biennale "Bielska Jesień 2019". Michal Cygan's paintings have been presented at the London Art Fair or ARTEXPO art fair in Paris, among others. He is a finalist in this year's 45th Painting Biennale "Bielska Jesień 2021".
Michal Cygan draws inspiration mainly from his immediate surroundings and Polish "everyday life." He is not afraid to reach for difficult, uncomfortable and silent subjects. The artist has developed his own unique style, which in the "block" cycles bears the features of computer graphics. In his works an important role is played by artistic technique and color.
