Mariusz Maksel was born in 1981 in Katowice, Poland. He graduated from the Silesian University in Katowice - Faculty of Arts in Cieszyn. At the moment he continues his creative work, devoting himself to painting. In his works he captures the atmosphere of loneliness, mystery and melancholy of city streets. The cityscape depicted in the paintings, but also human figures, can be interpreted as symbols of everyday life, alienation or the hustle and bustle of big-city life. In addition to painting, he also participates in high-profile film projects that combine animation techniques with painting. Finalist of the 22nd National Youth Painting Review "Promotions" (2012) and the second edition of the "Art Education Project" - a national competition for the best master's degree in 2011/2012. Finalist of the 5th Leon Wyczółkowski Painting Competition, Bydgoszcz 2022. On the long list for the Jackson's Painting Prize in 2022 and 2023.
