Biography
Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 1966, in the painting studio of Michał Bylina. He is a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts. He cultivates painting and printmaking. In 1968-74 he collaborated and exhibited together with Wieslaw Szamborski. His paintings from the 1970s bear the hallmarks of new figuration. The irritating, sometimes even cacophonous colors and nonchalant manner of painting demonstrated a critical attitude to contemporary social phenomena and to the trends in art that had been established at the time of his debut. He showed the world unembellished and ridiculed human vices. In the later period, the artist's art becomes less aggressive and more reflective - the compositions are orderly, restrained, clear, sometimes even striking in their conciseness. Since the 1980s, Marek Sapetto comments on socio-political reality in his paintings: "Round Table" (1995), "Hyde Park", "Cracked Mirror" (1996).
