About the painting, a story written by the artist.
"Angel.
And he found himself in hell. His own private hell of sadness of loneliness, hopelessness, self-abasement. There was no light, but suffering effectively marked the contours of everything that was happening. There were no devils, tar and similar nonsense. The space filled with indefinite, overflowing forms of pain. Not even physical, but the one he knew so well, the one constantly present beneath the surface of every daily event, lurking behind every smile, every promise of fulfillment. Now it openly rippled with volatility, as if unstoppable. He could not escape it, for it was himself. Tears streamed down his cheeks as if they lived a life of their own. There was no way out, no one to turn to, no way to disappear. He surrendered, disintegrated, burned, dissolved, extinguished....
She appeared unexpectedly, because how, why, because where did she come from? And yes, she was an angel. Of those who don't know they are. She did not emanate radiance, no trumpets or angelic choirs resounded, none of that. She did not utter any incantation, did not assure that everything would be fine. She was smoking a cigarette, upset and angry because she had missed her train. She complained about a spoiled evening. That's how perfect she was. And she didn't even know it. Even about the fact that she looked into my hell. And she was a star there. The only star in the darkness..."
Born in 1970, he has been interested in painting since early childhood, a visual artist, poet, and seeker of meaning. He approaches life with almost philosophical precision, breaking patterns and searching for his means of artistic expression.
His paintings are surreal journeys into the farthest recesses of imagination, a sense of truth and unfettered streams of thought.
His work reveals the truth of figures, objects and landscapes, into which he weaves his surreal visions. He excels at portraiture, highlighting the character of the figures he paints. Marcus Von May's paintings have a fair amount of distance and humor, which are appreciated by collectors at home and abroad.
