"Tingling" by Marcin Berdyszak was created during the pandemic and visualizes the paradoxical situation of the time - the need for isolation and the need for community, a need that is all the stronger the greater the threat we feel. Fragments of decorative frames, arranged in concentric circles accentuate the center of the composition, where the tinkling tiny figures form a blackened point - a place from which they leave or to which they are heading. The wooden appliqués evoke associations with furniture, and therefore with home, a closed, safe space. Although Berdyszak has introduced geometric order into the arrangement of these elements, their dispersion literally illustrates the breakdown of the world as we know it. The uncertainty that arises on this occasion can make one feel quite physically numb, tingling....
