Malwina Nahorny (b. 1984) - works in painting, printmaking, photography, video art and experimental music. Graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun in the serigraphy studio of Prof. Miroslaw Pawlowski. The awarded diploma was presented, among others, at the exhibition "Diploma 2010" at the Center for Contemporary Art in Torun. She continued her artistic studies from 2014 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, in the multimedia studio of Prof. Stanislaw Wieczorek and Dr. Jakub Wroblewski. She has participated in realizations in the fields of theater, music, film and design. She collaborates with Polish artists on audio-visual projects. She has held several competitions and group exhibitions in Poland. Her works are in private Polish and foreign collections. The series "Volcanoes and Machines" are two-part, watercolor, 2D objects - a vision of a prototype macroscopic machine for exploring the depths of the Volcano and a postcard from that journey. The fascination with delving into and reaching beneath the surface of successive layers of matter is here a documentation of the vision of this journey and the discoveries that await there. For the artist and her dreamy, even erotic dreams, it is the fulfillment of desires to enter the depths of the volcano and the fantasy of the metamorphosis of life functions to underground, volcanic conditions. It is also an artistic tribute to the element of carbon and its phoenix-like, organic power.
