Literature
"Modlibowska's biography inspired me to ask questions about how much we depend on the unconscious in our actions; on memory, history and heritage. I wanted "Memory" to depict the influence of the past on our dreams and aspirations on the one hand, and the power of our own will on the other. Personal experiences and environments shape our identity, that's clear. But I wanted the painting to remind us that we have the power to change what we don't like. Even if certain "truths" or ways of reacting to reality have been passed down for generations.
"Memory," therefore, not only evokes the image of a specific, prominent figure, but also reminds us of the collective memory that shapes our present and future. It is a call to appreciate the past, both in the context of personal experiences and in the history of women who have changed and continue to change the world with their work and sacrifice."
FELKA
Biography
Her main technique is acrylic paint, but her artistic expressions go far beyond a single medium. In addition to painting, she moves into the world of drawing, photography, music or sculpture. She uses these diverse forms to express herself, as well as to dive deeply into human emotions, which are her main inspiration. Her art oscillates around the surrealist trend and fantasy art.
When creating, she draws on her imagination. In her own words: "I imagine worlds and stories on the borderline between reality and dream. I look for answers to the question of what would happen if evolution took a different course, if our world was constructed differently, if the definition of life was different. Exploring these different paths is like a treasure hunt journey for me."
Felka's works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Poznan, Warsaw and London.
