Maksymilian Stratanowski (1913, Oriol - 1987, Warsaw) painted primarily portraits, landscapes and still lifes. He also created set designs for the Warsaw Opera and the Arnold Szyfman Polish Theater. His work is strongly associated with Warsaw. The watercolor shows a view of Pilsudski Square in Warsaw in the years. 50 - 60 of the 20th century. To the right of the composition is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
