The more than two-meter-long fabric by Magdalena Abakanowicz represents the artist's passion for creating art in soft materials and for creating large-scale, abstract compositions constructed from threads. From the very beginning of her artistic activity, the author worked on monumental woven installations, known as Abakanovichs. The results can be seen at numerous museum exhibitions in Poland and abroad, where the artist's work can take up almost the entire exhibition hall. On the other hand, Abakanovich's smaller-format textiles are works of equally high artistic value, but interested collectors are able to hang them on their own wall and interact with them daily. A work of this type can be auctioned at the 18th Contemporary Classics Auction at Art in House. "Abstract Fabric" from 1965 comes from a private art collection in Poznan and has not been presented at auctions or exhibitions before. The authenticity of the work has been verified and confirmed by the Marta Magdalena Abakanowicz-Kosmowska and Jan Kosmowski Foundation. The fabric has a unique structure, Abakanowicz's artistry is clearly visible in the way she combines various materials, and the overall work attracts with its interesting abstract composition of warm colors. The reverse of the work bears the artist's original signature: "M . Abakanowicz 1965".
