He studied painting and drawing privately with Maria Skarbek-Kruszewska in 1945-46. In 1948, he began studying at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Lodz under professors Władysław Strzeminski, Adam Rychtarski, Stefan Wegner and Ludwik Tyrowicz. In 1952 he transferred to the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, where he studied painting and book graphics. He received his diploma with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in 1954. In 1958 he became a member of the "Fifth Circle" group. In 1967 he began teaching graphics at the State School of Fine Arts in Lodz. Together with Stanisław Fijałkowski and Roman Artymowski, he established the Faculty of Graphic Arts in 1971. He received the title of professor in 1979. Works in museum collections at home and abroad, including those of the Hermitage Graphic Arts Collection, Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris and the collection of the World Bank in Washington.
