Judyta Sobel (1924 Lviv - 2012 New York) Polish painter associated with New York since 1956. She studied under Władysław Strzemiński at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Łódź in 1947-50. At the turn of 1948/49, as a second-year student, she participated in the First Exhibition of Modern Art organized at the Palace of Art in Cracow. She developed her own style based on a combination of work from the École de Paris, Lodz abstractionism and current world trends.
