Biography
Visual artist, member of the Association of Polish Artists. Studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and Art History at the Catholic University of Lublin. Winner of many awards and prizes abroad and in Poland, including honorable mention at the XII, XIV and XV All-Polish J. Spychalski Competition. He regularly participates in the most important plein-air painting events in Poland. Jozef Stolorz's work is dominated by symbolism and surrealism, as well as references to German Romanticism. A recognizable atmosphere and mood, the author achieves by operating light, color and landscape, which create a mystical space. The distinctive technique is the result of years of study of the history of painting technologies. The vast majority of works are executed in traditional oil painting. The author also creates pastels, drawings, and occasionally publishing graphics - as the author of book illustrations and classical music album covers. Jozef Stolorz's works have been exhibited at more than 140 national and international exhibitions since 1971, including more than 60 solo exhibitions. The artist's paintings are in many public and private collections, including those in Poland, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, the United States, the Vatican and Italy, often in the collections of prominent figures, including world-renowned classical music composers and scientists, including a Nobel laureate.
