oil, canvas, dimension 34 x 46 cm, signed p. d. "JDasewicz"
Jan Dasewicz (1932 - 1999) is a graduate of the Poznan State Higher School of Fine Arts and an active painter in the local artistic community is undoubtedly a continuator of the tradition of colorism, which is still alive here, and the achievements of painters associated with the Paris Committee ("Kapists"). The Poznan school, which in the post-war years was given direction by Waclaw Taranczewski and Stanislaw Teisseryre, educated both the second and third generation of colorists, - which was undoubtedly influenced by Eustachy Wasilkowski, who created and ran a painting studio here. The annual open-air workshops in Skoki, near Poznań, with its unique location among forests and lakes, were a meeting place for the most outstanding painters faithful to this painting direction, with Jan Cybis at the head. Dasewicz's works creatively transform the assumptions of colorism and are by no means secondary, and he is not merely an epigone of the direction. Rural landscapes - characteristic of his work - are thoroughly modern, and the presented theme repeatedly returns in various authorial interpretations.
