115x75, acrylic on canvas, 2023
Jakub Zhurkovsky's works deal with themes related to pop culture and human sexuality. They are dominated by sharp and vivid colors and a camp aesthetic. His work deals with the division of roles between men and women in the world , as well as the LGBT+ community, with which the author is connected and expresses support for it through the art he creates. In 2021, he defended his bachelor's degree at the Faculty of Arts in Opole in graphic design with Dr. Aleksandra Giza. At the time, he created a series of posters dedicated to the phenomenon of drag queens. Some of these works were donated to charity. The proceeds were dedicated to covering the Equality March 2021, organized by Rainbow Opole. Jakub Żurkowski works in computer graphics, painting and drawing, as well as sculpture and self-portrait photography. When creating photographs, Jakub embodies his alter ego, Plastic Doll. These works could be seen, among others, at the OFF photography festival in Opole, as well as on the artist's instagram @plasticdollmua and @kubazki. On a daily basis, he creates illustration and graphic design, which can be seen on his website. In addition to themes dedicated to society, Jakub Żurkowski also creates works dedicated to nature, especially the cosmos and its most impressive celestial bodies. These paintings are also characterized by sharp and strong colors, which are the artist's trademark. Cuba also participated in the International Poster Exhibition in Tarnow in 2023.
