Jakub Woznica (b. 2001), Memory I, 2023

Born in 2001 in Myślenice. Currently studying painting at the Academy of Fine Arts
Fine Arts in Cracow in the 1st Interdisciplinary Studio under the direction of Professor Zbigniew Bajek. Winner of the 5th edition of the CX Art competition, he presented his works at the international exhibition , "Kafka- breaking the boundaries" at the Luzino Gallery and at the individual exhibition , "Paesaggio catastrofico'' at the Bernardini Library in Lecce.
He works in painting, drawing, photography and film. In his works he often uses the theme of childhood and memory.

, "The inspiration for the series came when I found a childhood photo of a
a few years old me against the background of a meadow with flowers. When I saw them I was overwhelmed with anxiety and
I felt a strange feeling as if this figure was alien to me, as if it was not me.
The painting series is about my relationship with the past. The paintings are painted based on photographs
depicting situations from my childhood, from which I remember very little. The figures
I set them in a landscape that partially absorbs them. The treatments of erasing, blurring
silhouettes symbolize the distortion, obliteration of memories, as well as the transformation of family relations
family relationships. I tried in some cases to make the form of the figures disintegrate,
to get to the depths, to the core, to the beginning, in order to find something lost.''
