Jakub Konstanty WASILEWSKI (b. 1982, Gdansk, Poland)
Graduate of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk in the studio of Prof. Piotr Józefowicz. He is interested in human emotions, expressed through facial expressions. The artist's works depict faces, often damaged, wrinkled, having a clear expression of a hard or health-degrading life. The densely applied oil paint in the portraits is an attempt to imitate the texture of the skin outlined by wear and tear. It is the author's vision and a peep into the emotions expressed at a given moment or period of life. The current series of works is related to the environment of people immersed in alcoholism, living on the street, making a living from collecting. The artist tries to convey their faces in a simple, clear way and find beauty in them through color, structure.
