Jacek Lipowczan is a representative of a painting style that can be described as surrealist-fantastic realism. His paintings are characterized by incredible fantasy, while at the same time leaving a lot of space for the viewer's own imagination. With a mannerism almost akin to the old masters, he applies oil to the board in a long process, layer by layer. We perceive his paintings in the same way, step by step we get to know the depicted scene, gradually discovering more and more details, minutiae, details and nuances, so that we are forced to look very closely. Often there are suddenly opening spaces that later become hidden. We discover more and more common motifs or connections - such as the checkerboard or elements of the mountainous landscape. The influence of the Italian Renaissance is perhaps evident here. Some elements allow themselves to be interpreted in an obvious way, but when we focus on one detail of the puzzle, we notice that the other pieces are missing, that without them we will not see the whole. This is also Jack Lipowczan's intention - everyone can let his own imagination run wild here. It occupies us as long as there is room for our own associations and ideas. The artist does not want to comment on his works himself, believing that everyone will see something different in them.
