Biography
Jacek Lipowczan studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. In 1976 he received his diploma from the Faculty of Graphic Arts under Professor Mieczyslaw Wejman. In the first years of his artistic activity, he was primarily interested in drawing - he took part in several exhibitions of drawing in Silesia. During his work in the team of Kazimierz Kutz, as an assistant stage designer, he came into contact with the works and scenographic designs of Andrzej Kreutz - Majewski. The fabulous works of this artist strongly influenced the formation of the artist's pictorial imagination. In 1981, Lipowczan emigrated from Poland - first living in Sweden, then in Australia. In Sydney, at the American Hanna Barbera Drawing Film studio, he designed scenes for animated films. Also in the Antipodes he became interested in the paintings of the old masters - Hieronymus Bosch, Peter Bruegel, Hans Holbein. On the basis of their poetics, he began to create his own worlds, full of mockery and critical analysis of modernity, which he developed over the years of creative work. After moving to Germany, the artist began working as a graphic designer, art director and illustrator in publishing houses and advertising agencies. In 2004 he decided to take up painting exclusively - he describes his style as "surrealist-fantastic realism." He has shown his works in exhibitions in the UK, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Poland, France, Italy, Denmark and the USA, among others. He is a member of the Society of Art of Imagination in London, Bundesverband Bildender Künstler Köln e.V and Syrlin Kunstverein International e.V Stuttgart.
