Biography
Painter, illustrator, graphic designer. Graduate of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, diploma in the studio of Stefan Gierowski. In her work she deals with issues of color and painting form. She is interested in working with processed photographic record and the subject of the body as a form disciplined by social relations. In her artistic practice, Iwona Kobryń focuses simultaneously on two issues important for the reading of her paintings. She works with archival photographs, which she processes for her own purposes, and explores purely painterly problems of color and composition in a very insightful way. Painted since 2020, the paintings in the Last Day of Summer series are the fruit of her admiration for archival photographs of beach girls and beachgoers from the 1920s and 1930s.
