Biography
Visual artist, educator and animator of culture. He received his artistic education at the State Higher School of Fine Arts ( now the Academy of Fine Arts ) in Gdansk ( diploma in 1986). He also completed Postgraduate Studies in Educational Policy and Management at the University of Warsaw (2000). Ireneusz Jankowski's work was primarily landscape, but he gradually changed the subject matter and introduced various means of artistic expression. Geometric abstraction is the culmination of his creative search, which originated in the processing, analysis and synthesis of landscape and urban landscape. His works are very consistent in composition and sophisticated in color. They are a combination of painting and elements of space. The artist uses various plastic elements in his works, also introducing relief and creating a specific technique of his own. For a long time he realized himself primarily in educational work. He was also engaged in cultural education and cultural animation. For his educational activities, he received many awards , such as: Award of the President of the City of Warsaw (2017), Medal of the National Education Commission (2006), Award of the Minister of National Education (1996) and others. He also received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and Art (1996). Since 1992, he has been teaching an original visual arts program at XXXIV High School in Warsaw. As an educator for whom teaching is a great passion, he has educated a whole host of future art graduates who are now well-known Polish artists. He has more than a dozen solo exhibitions to his credit. He has also participated in many group exhibitions, plein-air events, art fairs, actions and art workshops at home and abroad.
