Irena Krzywinska (1922 - 2017) was born in Augustow and was associated with it. She graduated from the painting department of the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdansk. She was a sensitive painter, draughtswoman and illustrator, including of her poems, and was also involved in textile design. Starting from realistic representations, she gradually evolved towards abstraction, creating compositions that were delicate, airy, devoid of literalism, yet clear in their expression. The presented still life perfectly reflects the nature of her work.
