Henryk Cześnik (born April 12, 1951 in Sopot) - Polish painter, illustrator, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk.
Studied at the Faculty of Painting at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdansk (now the Academy of Fine Arts). Diploma in 1977 in the Painting Studio of Prof. Kazimierz Ostrowski. He is the head of the Painting Studio. He received the title of professor in 1994 - he works as an associate professor.
Professor Cześnik's trademark has become paintings on hospital sheets. The figures related to health care that appear on them, elements of hospital equipment, or the gloomy mood of these works are the fruit of a long period of illness, which left a clear mark on his work. "Transience, the degradation of matter, and therefore of people in the works of Cześnik is omnipresent. (...) In Cześnik's work it is not a threatening memento mori, but a statement. This is the way it is in nature, and there is no need to be surprised, let alone horrified. The biologicality of the sheets is poignantly apparent. As in the Turin shroud, humanity is visible on them from underneath what Czesnik painted on them." (Andrzej Matynia)

"His art belongs to the Expressionist family, but it is a search that is decidedly personal, its own. And in form and in content. Cześnik's expression operates less on dynamism and vitality, and plays more on muted, Even lyrical tones. The delicate grotesque and vigilant attention to the beauty of the painting matter testify not only to his sensitivity, but also to his professional maturity" ([in:] Henryk Cześnik, painting, State Art Gallery in Sopot, p. 54).
