"Henryk Baranowski was a great observer. And this was both of the nature that surrounded him, as well as of the cities he visited, nature and culture. Like a reporter he captured and stopped on canvas the busy life of oriental streets and bazaars, the exotic beauty of Cuban women, the smiles of Tashkent children, the boundlessness of the steppe. He also discovered beauty in what was next door, in what was ordinary: the Kashubian landscape, fighting roosters, rooks perched in the snow, or a walk with a dog in winter (...) So he created quickly, greedily, enchanted by the vibrating colors of reality. However, he always went beyond the patterns, sought his own path, sometimes the one against the current. At a time when most painters preferred abstraction, he remained a realist, faithful to his vision of the world." Kashubia is where Baranowski had his "second" home. In the village of Kamień he purchased "Henrykówka" where he spent many weeks each year. Practically each of his stays bore fruit with new paintings. The motifs of his painting inspirations were very extensive: he painted both winding roads, sparkling lakes, busy geese and chickens and such extremely charming cottages. These paintings are characterized by exceptional color and strong light.
