Works created by Heinz Mack refer to essential elements of art in an experimental way: light, movement, space, colour and form. Which can be worked out without limits. In a world full of fixed images and structures, a way of working that is purely focused on the element to be worked on seems much more far-reaching. Just as Pablo Picasso broke through the world of art with his Analytical Cubism and revolutionised the prevailing understanding of the image, the desire to let art stand on its own became ever greater. It was, as Yves Klein called it, about ''overcoming the problematic of art''. Heinz Mack himself repeatedly addresses the fact that art should no longer be about paintings or representations of events or objects - as it had been throughout art history before - but about a specific field of work made up of expansion and energy. However, in the chromatic constellation ''Blue lives in the red house'', he creates a pure dynamic through the colour fields that prevail here. Their arrangement and interplay is what makes the work: they are monochrome surfaces in polychrome symbiosis. Nevertheless, the individual sections could be rearranged in a variety of ways like a abstracted mosaic, so that a new picture would emerge again - a game of thought is triggered and continues the work itself.
