Klimek's paintings reflect a constant search for the basic structures of the most diverse things that surround us. In his paintings, he uses a variety of media, which, when mixed, torn and repainted anew, produce original structural effects. The painted images often consist of several layers enclosed in a coherent composition. An interesting fact is that the artist himself makes the paints with which he paints. When asked about his most interesting memory, Klimek answers that he associates it with receiving an award for the best diploma in Warsaw, when he saw large billboards with his name on the Palace of Culture and Science.
In painting, I am interested in inquiring about the structures that are the building blocks of each of the objects around us. It is their relationship in micro, and macro space that determines the "reality" we see. Attempts at reproduction, multiplication or synthesis are painstaking inquiries aimed at discovering and understanding reality in a multithreaded dialogue between the artist and the work.
The main feature of his painting is his fascination with space, geometric forms, their structure and the very texture of his canvases - often very rich, achieved with the help of mixed painting techniques. Visible here are the influences of the important in Polish contemporary painting Wroclaw structuralism, developed (along with colorism) at the E. Geppert Academy of Fine Arts, from which Grzegorz Klimek graduated. This makes his work all the more interesting for the dissemination of such a distinctive yet hermetic artistic tendency and its further "export" beyond the Wroclaw milieu - to the Warsaw, national or European market.
