Oil, canvas, 120 x 100 cm, signed p.d.: Valenti, author's sticker and commentary in Italian on the back.
Fernando Valenti was born on August 10, 1931 in Traona, Sondrio province. Valenti's paintings feature recurring figures of injured or trapped animals among the waste and scraps of sheet metal, mechanical devices, screws, etc. There is something of a dream in these depictions, something like a bad dream, nightmares from which the artist tries to free himself by portraying them on canvas, but which inexorably return. It's hard not to see in these animals, victims of a chaotic and absurd mechanical universe, an image of the author himself, who in the expressionistic chromatic disintegration of the figures shows the disintegration of the ego, brought about by the modern civilization of the factory.
