About the work:Ewa Kujawska (1956), Orange meditation no. 2, acrylic on canvas, 40x40 cm, 2023, front right bottom: signature Ewa Kujawska 23 The painting is an abstract composition with a centrally located rectangular shape. The synthetic approach of the composition catches the eye, and the porous background of the canvas surface evokes anxiety, which disappears in the face of entering the area of the energetic orange element. A series extremely friendly to the eye with a perfect aura. The series both collectible and friendly in the immediate environment of the viewer, in the spaces of the apartment, home - it regenerates the mood, introduces optimism.
Ewa Kujawska (1956) graduated from the Faculty of Painting, Printmaking and Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts (now the Academy of Fine Arts) in Wroclaw, received a Master of Fine Arts degree. In 1986 she moved to Canada, where she lives and works to this day, but in recent years often visits Poland for longer artistic residencies. Her work is dominated by acrylic paintings on canvas, but she also experiments with her own mixed techniques on canvas and paper. Her paintings are characterized by expressive gesture, but also often by the delicate, even contemplative silence of her economical, metaphorical compositions. Very often pasted objects - crumbs of the environment - appear on the plane of the canvas in addition to paint, creating collages and assemblages, whose reference in the recent period is a reflection on the state of nature and the artist's critical attitude to consumerism. She is a member of the Canadian Artists Representation (CARFAC). She has exhibited her paintings in galleries in Canada and Germany. She has participated in group and solo exhibitions in Canada, France, Germany, USA, Morocco, Greece and Poland. The artist says: "my works in mixed media (mixed media) reflect not only the world around me, but also my very personal fascination with the reality around me, while being an exploration of the relationship between spirit-mind-art." In Poland, Ewa Kujawska's work is represented by Galeria Kościelak.
