Eugeniusz Gerlach was born in 1941 in Bieniawa near Ternopil. In 1946 he settled in Paczków (Nysa district).
In the years 1955-1960 he attended the State High School of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, in 1960-1966, he studied at the Faculty of Painting and Graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He studied easel and architectural painting in the studio of Prof. Waclaw Tarczewski, while graphics in the studio of Prof.Mieczyslaw Wejman. He completed his studies with a diploma with honors.In 1966 he became a member of the Association of Polish Artists. His achievements include more than 70 individual exhibitions and participation in about 80 collective exhibitions - district and national, where he won prizes and awards.He is also a two-time recipient of a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and Art.
