Biography
"Studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Diploma in Workshop Graphics in the studio of Prof. Lech Kiljański (1995). As a cultural animator, she was associated with the Bydgoszcz-based club Mózg, and cooperated with Toruń's Galeria Rusz. She deals mainly with installation and performance, and her work is primarily an ironic commentary on the situation and status of women in Poland and a reflection on social exclusion. Jablonska's realizations, tinged with humor and distance, are far from the journalism and demagoguery often inherent in so-called 'engaged art'.
Selected awards: scholarship from the Minister of Culture for 2002; recognized as one of the most promising individuals of the young generation of Polish artists by the weekly "Newsweek Polska" (2002); nomination for the "Paszporty Polityki" award for 2002; the title of "Artist of the Year" in the readers' poll of the Bydgoszcz supplement of "Gazeta Wyborcza"; the "Spojrzenia 2003" award from the Deutsche Bank Foundation and the Zachęta National Gallery of Art.
