The painting improves acoustics, absorbs echoes and reverberations. The artist uses innovative materials to soften and dampen unwanted acoustic phenomena that occur in large rooms and corridors.
Dorota Roszkowska was born (1970) in Bialystok. In 1990 she graduated from the High School of Fine Arts in Suprasl near Bialystok. In 1991, she took a one-year course in silk painting in Meaux, France. After arriving in the Netherlands, she took up studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arnhem, Holland (now ARTEZ) - department of graphic design, which she completed in 1997. She lives and works there.
As the years went by, in addition to her work in graphic design (including for the Polish Embassy in The Hague), her painting work began to occupy an increasingly important place in Dorothy's professional development, eventually becoming her main activity. Moving with the times, Dorota runs her own art rental shop in the Netherlands with a collection of her own paintings, aiming to make art accessible to a wider audience. She also paints paintings on commission, listening to the needs and wishes of her clients.
She is proud to draw from and share the strengths of both cultures, Polish and Dutch. Dorota is a living example of how to build a positive image of Poles in the Netherlands and use the strength of both cultures in practice.
Her fascination with people, nature and cosmos is reflected in her paintings.
She uses mixed media techniques. She inspires ingenuity and innovation in her approach to art by making it functional. Currently, she mainly deals with paintings and acoustic, sound-absorbing objects in which she uses innovative sound-absorbing materials. They soften and look like reverberation and echo in rooms. They had their 'premiere' at the "Innovate 2018" festival in Arnhem.
