Dorota Grynczel (1950, Jacowlany - 2018, Warsaw) Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She received her diploma with honors in 1977 in the Studio of Prof. Jan Tarasin and the Studio of Prof. Wojciech Sadley. She was a full professor at the Faculty of Painting, and has served as Dean of the Faculty since 2012. She was involved in unique textiles and easel painting.
She was a grantee of The Pollock-Krasner Foundation in New York (1992) and of the Cultural Foundation and the Batory Foundation in Warsaw (1993). She is the recipient of many awards, including the Minister of Culture and Art (1976); Silver Cloche at the 7th International Biennale in Brussels (1996); Bronze Medal at the 9th International Triennale of Textile in Lodz (1998); Distinction (2002) and 2nd Prize (2005) at the 4th. and 5th Triennial of Polish Drawing in Lubaczow; Bronze Medal at the 6th International Biennial of Tapestry From Lausanne to Beijing in Zhenhzhou, China (2010); Honorable Mention and Prize of ZPAP at the 14th International Triennial of Tapestry in Lodz (2013). She is the author of more than 20. solo exhibitions at home and abroad, including: 1981 - DAP Gallery, Warsaw; 1986 - Studio Gallery, Warsaw; 1987 - Museum of Contemporary Art, Chelm; 1988, 1989, 1995 - Sculpture Gallery, Warsaw; 1989 - Stadtisches Museum, Bad Oeynhausen, Germany; Stadtisches Museum, Herford, Germany; 1993 - Museum of Contemporary Art, Radom; 1996 - Presidential Gallery, Warsaw; 1999 - ASP Łódź; 2000 - Museum of Contemporary Art, Łódź; 2002 - Critics Gallery, Warsaw.
