The works of the New York-based anonymous group Death NYC can be found both in art galleries and in the form of street murals. Death NYC interweaves images of famous figures such as Marilyn Monroe, Barack Obama and Mickey Mouse with iconic motifs from art history (such as Andy Warhol's soup can and Jeff Koons' balloon dog) to create collages that ironically reference pop culture idols. Full of humor but also grotesque, Death NYC's street art is often adorned with the word "DEATH" (death), which, interestingly enough, can be read as an acronym for "Don't Easily Abandon The Hope."
