Dawid MASIONEK, Burgos Cathedral

Born in 1994, painter, draughtsman, Master of Fine Arts, graduate of the Jan Długosz University of Humanities and Sciences in Częstochowa (studio of Professor Jarosław Kweclich). Fascinated by monumental Gothic architecture - this is one of the main inspirations for his work. He paints his paintings with a spatula, exploring the same areas repeatedly, covering the canvas with successive layers of paint, only to peel them off later, discovering newer and newer qualities of color, light, dynamics. Expressive painting is complemented by his drawing activities - he readily reaches for ink and nib, believing that a painter's eye is educated primarily through the skilled hand of the draughtsman. Author of many group exhibitions (including several editions of the exhibition Painters and Drawers - Regional Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts, Conductor House, Czestochowa) and individual exhibitions (including Separation - about secrum in modernity, Church of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ in Radomsko, 2018; Painting Exhibition, MDK in Lubliniec, 2017; Young Artists, Black Cat Studio, Czestochowa 2011;). During the period of his studies, he was an active member of the scientific circle operating at the Department of Painting at AJD in Częstochowa. He currently devotes his free time to studying theology. From this area he draws handfuls both in his individual spiritual and artistic development - he is no stranger to metaphysical themes, which he willingly undertakes in his work. Privately, he is the happy husband of artist Katarzyna Kabzinska-Masionek.
