Czeslaw Tumielewicz painter, graphic artist, since 1994 professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, born November 20, 1942 in Lida. In May 1945 repatriated to a small village near Poznań. Since 1961 in Gdansk. Studied architecture, painting and graphic design. Participated in more than 350 exhibitions at home and abroad. Recipient of a scholarship from the Kosciuszko Foundation in New York in 1981, he received more than a dozen awards for his painting and graphic works; including first prize at the National Exhibition of Young Art in Sopot in 1974; first prize at the Spychalski National Painting Competition in Poznan in 1977; one of 10 equal prizes at the National Exhibition of Graphics in Warsaw in 1973. He participates several times in the International Graphics Biennial in Cracow /in 1971,1984,1997, 2000/, in the National Graphics Exhibitions in Katowice /1997, 2000/ and in the Toruń Exhibitions Color in Graphics /1982,1985, 1988, 1991, 1993, 1997/ as well as in the Festivals of Contemporary Painting in Szczecin /1972,1974, 1978, 1998, 2000./ and in Still Life Reviews in Sieradz /1997, 2000/, Triennale of Portrait and Self-portrait in Radom /1987, 2000. 2003/. In the competition of Gdansk Society of Friends of Art Graphics of the Year 2007, he is awarded 1st prize. He is the winner of the City of Gdansk award in the field of culture.
