Czesław PODGÓRSKI
1935 Lviv - 2013
Studied painting and printmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under the direction of Stanisław Szczepański, Eugeniusz Eibisch and Kazimierz Tomorowicz. He received his diploma in 1962 in the studio of Jozef Pakulski. Since 1966 he has presented solo exhibitions in Poland, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Kuwait, Mexico, Finland, Germany and the USA. In parallel with printmaking, he was involved in painting, creating abstract compositions built around signs or object suggestions, mainly landscapes. A distinct strand of his interests was sports themes. For his lithographs devoted to sports disciplines and figures from the world of sports, he was twice awarded the Silver Olympic laurel (in 1996 and 2000).
