Biography
Cristian Roy Maria Mac Entyre, born in 1967 in Argentina, is an artist whose work focuses on geometric, kinetic and optical art. He is the son of artist Eduardo Mac Entyre (co-founder of Generative Art) and Maria Carmen Apicella, from whom he inherited a passion for music. Mac Entyre became interested in playing instruments at a very young age, and his skills on the guitar and cello had a strong influence on his visual works. Visual arts and music shaped his main areas of interest, and the humanities and philosophy gradually complimented them during his artistic development. In his kinetic and op-art works, the artist shows interest in areas of psychology, trying to capture the play between appearance/reflection and reality, the visible and the hidden. He uses mirrors to do this, and conducts a search among the multiplicity of possible meanings, and reminds us that the object is presented one more time on the mirror surface through the image that returns this reflection. His works can be found in museum collections in Argentina (MBAS, MACLA, Embassy of Spain), USA (MOLAA in California) and Russia (Art-Center Exposed in Moscow). From 1997 to the present day, changing the subject matter and the materials used, Mac Entyre has undertaken artistic activities (such as rescuing the old house of painter Benito Quinquel Martin and transforming it into an art gallery) and participated in a very large number of exhibitions, both individual and group - so far in Argentina, the US and Russia.
