Colombian painter descended from the Spanish family of Isaza y Goyenechea, who settled in the province of Antioquia in the 17th century. Died at the age of 76 in Miami, Florida in 2002.
He graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts in Medellin, the Royal Academy of San Fernando in Madrid and the Academy Julian in Paris.
He was a well-known and recognized illustrator for two of Colombia's largest publishing houses ? Editorial Bedout and Carvajal S.A. He illustrated literary works by such prominent writers as Leon de Greiff, Carlos Castro Saavedra and others.
He was a well-known portraitist in Latin America ? among others, he is the author of portraits of Venezuelan presidents.
One of his great religious works are the wall paintings of the nave and chancel of the church in Salgar /province of Antioquia/. He also created, in the center of Medellin ? the capital of Antioquia province, a mural adorning the headquarters of the Liberal Party.
He has exhibited his works in many galleries, including Madrid, Paris, Washington, Rome, Bogotá, Caracas, Medellin, Miami, earning praise from art critics and the public. Many of his works are in art museums and galleries in these cities.
Commentators and connoisseurs have emphasized both the realism of his works and the great charge of poetic reflection. Many count Camilo Isaza among the group of painters gathered around the prominent Colombian artist F. Botero.
