Barbara Houwalt-Kostecka, Fantasy Composition

Daughter of the painterly couple Barbara and Ildefons Houwalt, (b. 1935) after graduating from the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdansk not only took up painting, but also turned out to be a talented and prolific poet. Her works, shown in exhibitions at home and abroad, present her own fairy-tale world full of imaginative figures of people, animals and plants harmoniously intermingling and building scenes of dreamy dreams and illusions. Thus, she probably refers to her father's fanciful compositions, which she develops creatively. The full and luscious colors of the works are probably a nod to the work of Piotr Potworowski, whose student she was.
