"Grzymała, using the convention of fairy tales in his work, encourages us to adopt a point of view different from our own. Going beyond the subjective perspective and dialogue leading to understanding - across divisions and sometimes even across genres - are her primary tools for change. "*
Ania Grzymała (1997, Warsaw) is a graduate of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (diploma under Dr. Jan Mioduszewski and Dr. Paweł Boltryk). Her work mainly involves painting, drawing and printmaking. She is the author of a collection of contemporary "Ursynów fairy tales", in which she investigates the origin of phenomena such as power, war and brutality. The painting "Zdejmij mundur, przeproś matkę", which illustrates the fairy tales, aroused great controversy among conservative media and politicians, thus drawing public attention to the problem of refugees on the Polish-Belarusian border. The artist has been repeatedly awarded and honored: winner of the Entry Initiative Award; finalist of the 20th edition of the Artistic Journey of Hestia competition, winner of an award in the form of a residency at the Sokolowsko International Culture Laboratory; honorable mention from the editors of "NN6T", "Contemporary Lynx" and the Royal Talens company in the 10th edition of the New Image New Look painting competition organized by the University of Arts in Poznan. Together with Julia Woronowicz, she is active in the art group Two People. Her works have been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, the State Art Gallery in Sopot, the Center for Contemporary Art Znaki Czasu in Toruń, among others.
