Andrzej Kozyra, born in 1965 in Cracow, is one of the outstanding representatives of Polish contemporary art who for years has been delighting the public with his unique sensitivity and subtlety of artistic expression.His artistic journey began at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts where he studied painting in the studio of Jan Szancenbach. It was here, in an atmosphere of creative ferment, that Andrzej Kozyra shaped his unique style and sought inspiration.In the early stages of his career, the artist paid attention to Young Poland painting and the achievements of the Polish Post-Impressionists, but after a trip to Greece in 1987, he turned his gaze towards his own memories and experiences. This change in orientation resulted in works that were characterized by intimacy and sensitivity to detail.
Characteristic of his works are landscapes and architecture often shown in the form of simple blocks that bring to mind model cities. The artist likes to weave objects resembling children's toys and means of transportation into his compositions, giving his paintings an unusual fantastic character - as he himself admits, he bases them on childhood dreams and memories of visited places. The oneiric landscapes he creates, suspended between waking and dreaming, transport the viewer into a world of subtle emotions of nostalgia and reflection on the transience of time.
