Reproduced and described painting:

- New York by Renoux, Éditions André Roussard, Paris 1984, color ill. no. 34.

The serenity that other painters find in studying and depicting nature, Andre Renoux has discovered in portraying cities. Most often it is Paris, but also London, Venice, San Francisco, Boston or, as in the case of Carriage House, New York. The artist's canvases are born from careful observation of architectural elements, streets and storefronts. Passersby never appear in the paintings. However, the uninhabited, motionless, dreamlike cities are full of traces of human presence.

♣ A fee will be added to the auctioned price in addition to other costs, based on the right of the artist and his heirs to receive remuneration in accordance with the Law of February 4, 1994 - on Copyright and Related Rights (droit de suite)

French painter, engraver and lithographer born in Oran (Algeria) in 1939. His works are mainly of Paris, but also of London, Venice, New York, Boston and San Francisco; he painted streets, stores, cafes, courtyards, old facades and restaurant interiors. He described his painting as "poetic reality." In 1945 his family left Algeria and settled in the south of France. André Renoux began his art studies in 1957 at the School of Decorative Arts in Nice, continuing his education in Paris at the College of Modern Arts. André Renoux is a careful observer of the smallest details, which he reproduces in his paintings. His favorite subject was the streets of Paris.

He has exhibited his works around the world: in Lebanon, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Brazil, Australia, Italy, including Rome and the U.S. He also enjoyed great success in Japan, where a monograph album was dedicated to him. He has been the subject of articles in: the New York Times, Arts News, Art in America, Art Businezz news, Art Review and many French newspapers, among others.
