Estimations: 2 672 - 3 340 EUR

Acrylic, canvas, 80 x 90 cm, signed on the back

The artist was born in Suriname, but studied in the Netherlands, and has lived and worked in Tuscany for over twenty years.
She is characterized by a personal stylistic trait in which every brushstroke combines French pointillism with ancient mosaic art. The artist reinterprets the decoration of ancient mosaics of historic thermal buildings and Byzantine churches, which he quotes in his abstract compositions. In this way, he manages to link the present with the past, creating sophisticated works that evoke peace and harmony.
The color scheme is dominated by soft pastel hues. Thanks to her many travels, Alma has had the opportunity to exhibit her work all over the world - including New York, France and the Netherlands, receiving numerous awards and publications.
She currently lives in Lucca, surrounded by the extraordinary beauty of the Tuscan countryside, often finding in it sources of inspiration and ideal light for her works.
The artist's works were exhibited in 2021 at the third edition of Aqvart in Venice, where she received the Premio di Merito for the original authorial style of her works. Alma Sheik received the second prize 2021 in the Tamara Art Award for "Dancing Odalisques" and exhibited her 2 works at the Fortezza da Basso during the International Biennale of Contemporary Art in Florence. In 2022, during the second edition of the Tamara Art Award, held in Venice, the artist received 1st prize for her work "Harem." In her paintings you can often find the motif of water and female figures that intertwine, creating interesting compositions reminiscent of ancient mosaics. Delicate shades of pink, gold and ochre convey harmony and tranquility, combining the present with the past.
