Agnieszka BRZEZIÑSKA (born 1975 in Walbrzych)
The artist from 2014 to 2019 studied at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw at the Faculty of Painting, where in 2019 she received her diploma realized under the direction of Professor Janusz Merkel. The artist's works have been presented at solo and group exhibitions, and are also in private collections. In 2017, the artist initiated the opening of the Art Gallery in the former Evangelical church in Ludwikowice Klodzkie.
In her work, the artist started from abstract painting, transforming and simplifying the observed reality. The essence of the works does not focus on their "meaning" or "understanding", but on their "feeling". Gradually, she introduces elements of figurative painting into her work and takes up the study of figures and relationships. A series of paintings under the common title "Sisters" is created, painted using oil painting techniques on canvas and on paper. This is an open series, successively enriched with new works. The inspiration for the paintings was the meeting of two sisters. One was deaf and dumb, while the other took care of her sister. They lived in the countryside in an old family house with small windows. After the death of their parents, their house remained unchanged, and the sisters themselves lived a modest life and raised chickens. Their attire, characterized by its simple cut and colorful stain, attracted particular attention. This was the main inspiration for taking up the subject, which in time became a broader character study.
